Prof. Dr. M. A. Sahir Arıkan

M.A. Sahir Arıkan received his BSc (1979), MSc (1981), and Ph.D. (1987) degrees in mechanical engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey. He is currently a professor and chair in the same department. His research interests include CAD, CAM, Robotics, Machine Elements, Machine Design, Gear Design, Gear Dynamics, MEMS, and micromanufacturing.


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ender Yıldırım

Ender Yıldırım received his BSc, MSc, and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey in 2002, 2005, and 2011, respectively. From 2012–2013, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Leiden Academic Center for Drug Research at Leiden University, the Netherlands. He worked as a faculty member in Mechanical Engineering Department at Cankaya University, Ankara, Turkey, between 2013-2019. He is currently an assistant professor in Mechanical Engineering Department at Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. His re-search interests include plastic microfluidic chip fabrication methods, capillary microfluidics, droplet-based microfluidics, bio-MEMS, and biosensors.

Ayşen Gümüştaş

She received her BSc degree in Food Engineering from Süleyman Demirel University. After graduation, she received her MSc in Analytical Chemistry at Ankara University, and during her MSc, she focused on SERS-based lateral flow immunoassay for pathogen detection. She completed her second MSc degree in Pharmaceutical Microbiology at Ankara University. She joined Micromanufacturing Laboratory in the Spring of 2022. She is currently doing her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Microbiology at Ankara University and working on bacteriophages and their potential treatment for bacterial infections. (LinkedIn)

Ufuk Dirmencioğlu

Ufuk Dirmencioğlu received his B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from İhsan Doğramaci Bilkent University in 2021. He joined the Micromanufacturing laboratory in the Spring of 2022. Ufuk is currently working on the development of a capillary-driven microfluidic device for pathogen detection.

Mert Nakışlı

Mert Nakışlı received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from I. D. Bilkent University with a comprehensive scholarship. He is currently pursuing his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Middle East Technical University. He joined the Micromanufacturing Laboratory in the Spring of 2022. He is currently working on the development of a capillary-driven microfluidic system for magnetic bead-based assays.

Mert Kerem Ülkü

Mert Kerem Ülkü will receive his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and Minor degree in Mechatronics from Middle East Technical University at the end of Spring 2023. He joined Micromanufacturing Laboratory in the Fall of 2019. He is currently working on microfabrication, lab-on-a-chip, bio-mems, ultrasonic embossing, additive manufacturing, and conventional manufacturing techniques.

Berat Görkem Başabaş

Berat Görkem Başabaş is an undergraduate student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Middle East Technical University. He joined the Micromanufacturing Laboratory in the Summer of 2021. Erdem Bayraktar

Erdem Bayraktar is an undergraduate student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Middle East Technical University. He joined the Micromanufacturing Laboratory in the Fall of 2021. He is currently working under a TÜBİTAK-1001 research project. His research interests include microfluidic chip fabrication, additive manufacturing, and conventional manufacturing methods.

Miray Sanem Sarı is a Mechanical Engineering student at Middle East Technical University. She joined the Micromanufacturing Laboratory in the Fall of 2022. She is currently working on Injection molding with the 3D-printed inserts.

Berk Can Açıkgöz

Berk Can Acikgoz received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from METU EEE in 2018 and 2021, respectively. He worked on capillary-driven microfluidic system simulation methods during his time in Micromanufacturing Laboratory. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree at the University of Bern in magnetic resonance imaging.
